Michio Kaku: The Age of Mastery

Found this interesting article on BBC by one of my favorite living scientists, Michio Kaku.

He describes our age as the Age of Mastery. He says we are leaving the Age of Discovery (finding out how our universe works) and are beginning to manipulate our world.

He's got a point, especially if you notice the high speed advancements in cloning, teleportation (yes! it's been demonstrated on a molecular level), and self-driving cars. In short, we are in the verge of living a style described only in sci-fi stories.

Instead of simply observing nature, these scientists are at the forefront of the Age of Mastery, manipulating genes, inserting chips everywhere in our environment, and manipulating individual atoms as well.

All these are a cause of both celebration and concern for Kaku.

...Eventually this will give us the power of a Greek god, i.e. the ability of create life in our image and animate the inanimate. But with this god-like power, the question remains: will we also have the wisdom of Solomon to control this power?
